I’ve always known and imagined myself wanting to be someone who helps break down barriers and stereotypes for future generations. As a Latina, I didn’t have many of those relatable movies. The Hispanics that were supposed to “represent” us, didn’t look like me and were based on stereotypes. I want to be able to create the accurate representation that certain cultures crave and desire. I’ll show accurate representations by casting people from that culture, doing my research, and finding out what is true and what is actually a Hollywood-fed stereotype. It is important to showcase what is actually true about different people because with false information can create this negative ideology. It is why my mission is to be a part of a new standard in Hollywood where people within my culture and others don’t have to feel like they must submit to old-school Hollywood society standards.
